Backlighting: a sophisticated yet practical upgrade
Whether it’s a membrane switch or a capacitive switch, light can become a point of interaction, for example, by confirming an action or indicating that the user must touch the screen to complete an operation.
Thanks to its wide variety of lighting options, backlighting can give your equipment a refined touch, as is the case with products like medical devices and household appliances. Taking the purpose of your human-machine interface (HMI) into account, our experts can recommend solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into your existing processes.
Backlighting solutions for all of your HMIs
Enhance the user experience by strategically positioning lights inside your HMI. Our designers have a wide range of backlighting options available to create customized solutions.
A wide range of backlighting options
Light guide film (LGF)
Looking for a flexible option that can adapt to any surface? Light guide films are the perfect solution! Extremely bendable, they can conform to any shape, providing consistent lighting for your control panel wherever it’s required.
Light-emitting diodes (LEDs)
LEDs are popular for a variety of reasons: they’re affordable, exceptionally durable, and give off very little heat. Available in a wide variety of colours and brightness options, these diodes are suitable for outdoor applications and can withstand temperatures ranging from -30 °C to +85 °C. What’s more, these energy-efficient lights run on a low current.
Thin LEDs also reduce the layer thickness while eliminating the need for embossing, thus decreasing the total manufacturing cost of a membrane switch.

Electroluminescent lighting (EL)
This type of lighting uses phosphorus ink to transform electrical energy into uniform lighting. The quality of the phosphorus ink is essential to ensure optimal efficiency and durability. Particularly well suited for low-light applications, in dark and bright environments, electroluminescent lights are known for consuming very little energy. As masters of this technology, our engineering team selects the best components while regularly testing their performance.
Fiber optic lighting
Using very fine plastic fibres, this process provides uniform, consistent light distribution, even when exposed to demanding environments, such as those found in the medical industry. Coupled with a light-emitting diode (LED), this type of lighting is an energy-saving, high-performance (in dark environments), and durable solution.
